Rosbach Valley

The Rosbachtal nature reserve is located north of Rosbach in the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . In addition to the Rosbach over a length of six kilometers, the Juchtbachtal is also part of the protected area.

The nature reserve was created in 1994 and has since been recognized as an FFH area . It has a size of 143 ha .

In addition to near-natural creek trees such as black alder , moist tall herbaceous vegetation and extensively used grassland with wet, wet and poor meadows, the protected area offers some special features. The coppice forests created by intensive deforestation are particularly worthy of protection . There are also quarries and spoil heaps here that harbor their own forms of life.

The kingfisher can be found in the Rosbachtal . Around 500 species of butterflies live in the nature reserve, including 120 from the NRW Red List . Old oak glass-winged and birch-glass winged live in the area of ​​the heather-like coppice . The oak hairstreak also finds its home here. Other significant occurrences of the large and small bog bluing led to recognition as an FFH area. Of the 343 registered plant species, 20 are on the NRW Red List. This is where the largest occurrence of the fever clover in the Rhein-Sieg district and the only one of the bedstraw summer root is found .
