The Trerichsweiher

The Trerichsweiher is a pond in the west of the city of Siegburg . It forms the core of the Trerichsweiher nature reserve .

location

The Trerichsweiher is located in the west of the Siegburg district of Brückberg between the Agger , which forms the border with Troisdorf , and the B56 , which separates the nature reserve from the residential development. The nature reserve is 55 to 65 meters above sea level.

Pond

The Trerichsweiher was built in the 16th century. It is a four hectare large and three meters deep pond.

The pond is an unstable biotope, primarily due to the rough horn leaf , which forms a carpet on the water surface in summer and thus reduces the supply of oxygen.

Therefore, in 2006, for example, the THW circulated the water for three hours with two 5000 liter pumps to supply oxygen; in 2008 the horn leaf carpet was removed with a mowing boat from the Wupperverband .

Nature reserve

Trerichsweiher is the name of the 25 hectare nature reserve SU16, or 165944 in the World Database on Protected Areas .

In 2006, 95 bird species were found at Trerichsweiher, 18 of them from the Red List . Among other things, this can Nile geese , Canada geese , gray geese , gray herons , purple herons , grebes , tufted ducks , pochard , cormorants and coots are observed. Otters have also been seen.
