Dürrenbruch is a nature reserve in the municipality of Alfter in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a 7.72 hectare forest area with moorland biotopes west of Oedekoven . The Katzenlochbach rises from the area , the highest point is the Thalenberg at 169 meters high.

location

The Dürrenbruch is part of the Rhineland Nature Park . It belongs to the small parceled private forest area Waldville . Its borders are the Schmale Allee and the Breite Allee.

meaning

The drought break has near-natural transitional bogs on a waterlogged peat substrate. Adjacent are birch bog forest and buckthorn bushes . Cotton grass , species of peat moss , whistle grass , marsh grass and sour grasses can be found here on the special plants of the small bog . In this environment, surrounded by a deciduous forest area rich in old wood, some endangered and protected animal species are at home, including the agile frog , grass snake , middle and black woodpecker .
