Wehrmedizinalamt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wehrmedizinalamt was set up on October 1, 1956 , one year after the first soldiers of the Bundeswehr were appointed. It had three departments:

  • Department I Central Tasks, Tuberculosis Care, Defense Medical Library in Bonn-Beuel,
  • Department II Military medical statistics and medical reporting in Remagen and
  • Department III Hygienic-Medical Institute in Koblenz.

The X-ray screens were also subordinate to the Wehrmedizinalamt.

The Wehrmedizinalamt was a military service subordinate to the Federal Minister of Defense and was entrusted with central medical services. With the development of the armed forces , especially the medical service, the scope of duties of the office increased.

An expansion was inevitable, the reclassification appropriate to the extended order was completed on February 1, 1965, at the same time the office was renamed the Medical Office of the Bundeswehr (SanABw) .
