Its core activities include asset management , private banking and investment fund business , especially in the area of hedge funds . The Banca del Ceresio is wholly owned by the Foglia banking family from Ticino . At the end of September 2008, client assets under management totaled around 10.1 billion Swiss francs.
The Banca del Ceresio was founded in 1958 by the brothers Gianbattista and Alberto Foglia, who carried on the banking tradition of their father Antonio Foglia. Antonio Foglia, himself a banker and stockbroker , was President of the Milan Stock Exchange in the post-war years . Banca del Ceresio is the first hedge fund specialist in Switzerland. She has been active in this area since the early 1960s and has maintained a close relationship with George Soros since the early days , in whose Quantum Group of Funds the Foglias variously a. a. are represented as board members.
