Banda was a princely state in the Bundelkhand region of British India in what is now the state of Uttar Pradesh . Its capital was the place Banda .

In 1790 Ali Bahadur I, an illegitimate son of Peshwa Baji Rao I , made himself Nawab of Banda. His son Shamsher Bahadur (1802-25) had to submit to the British in 1803. Ali Bahadur II. (1850-58) took part in the Sepoy uprising , which is why the British confiscated the land and incorporated it into the United Provinces .
