Bandalag jafnaðarmanna

The Bandalag jafnaðarmanna ( German about Social Democratic Union ) was an Icelandic party .

It was founded in 1983 by the former Minister for Justice, Religion and Education Vilmundur Gylfason , who had previously resigned from the Icelandic Social Democratic Party (Alþýðuflokkurinn) . In the parliamentary elections on April 23, 1983, the party moved into the Althing with four members . On June 19, 1983, the founder, Vilmundur Gylfason, committed suicide .

In the elections on April 25, 1987 Bandalag jafnaðarmanna won no more mandate , in the same year the party announced its dissolution.
