Bandista (also bANDİSTA ) is a Turkish music collective. Bandista stands for the abbreviation of Bando Istanbul .

The collective was founded in 2006 in Istanbul . The first album, De Te Fabula Narratur , was mastered in Italy and 1000 copies of it were distributed in Taksim Square . The EP Sınırsız-Ulussuz-Sürgünsüz is dedicated to Festus Okey, a Nigerian immigrant who was shot by the Turkish police in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul in the police station. The song Kim Yerli Kim Göçmen is a cover version of the song People Came by Cem Karaca . The song Hiçbir Şeyin Şarkısı commemorates the journalist Hrant Dink who was shot in 2007 .

The members of the collective play various musical instruments, such as accordion , electric bass , clarinet , saxophone , snare drum , violin , bouzouki , keyboard , trombone and melodica . The collective also includes members who do not play an instrument. The members of the collective do not want to publish their names. The texts deal, among other things, with guest workers in Germany, gentrification , police violence and criticism of globalization . The collective has played at several festivals and demonstrations and supported the protests in Turkey in 2013 , among others . In 2014 the band released their album ki buradayız hâlâ! ("So, we're still here!"). On the album, for example, is a version of the unemployed march ("İşsiz Marşı") composed by Mordechaj Gebirtig .

The band publishes their albums with a copyleft that can be downloaded for free from the Internet.
