The Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link ( Bandra-Worli Sea Link , वांद्रे वरळी सेतू) is an eight-lane cable - stayed bridge in Mahim Bay near Mumbai , Maharashtra state , India. The foundation stone was laid in 1999. The completion of the 5.6 km long road bridge was initially planned for December 2008. It was completed on March 24, 2010.

The bridge connects Bandra and Worli Mahim Bay and has eight lanes. All vehicles are subject to a toll . The structure was the first part of the parent West Island Freeway project . The client was the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) . The general contractor was the Hindustan Construction Company .

This bridge over the bay replaced the Mahatma Gandhi Setu (road bridge from 1972/1982 with a length of 5.575 km spanning the Ganges ) as the longest bridge in India.
