Bangkal

The Bangkal was a unit of mass for gold and silver in Singapore . The measure corresponded to the gold yield from a basket of earth, as for example in the mining area Sarawak and Sambas on Borneo . When washed out, a basket yielded about 1½ ounces of gold, or a Bangkal.
