Sanat va Madan Bank ( Persian بانک صنعت و معدن, "Bank for Industry and Mining ", engl. Bank for Industry and Mine ) is an Iranian state-owned banking institution based in Tehran , Iran . It was founded in 1959. The task is to support the economic development and progress of Iranian industry and mining.

Holdings

The bank has a 52% stake in the Hamburger Bank Europäische-Iranische Handelsbank (EIHB).

Sanctions

The bank is on sanction lists of the US Treasury and is - in contrast to the banks Melli and Saderat not by name - the object of Resolution 1803 of the UN Security Council . These documents prohibit doing business with the bank to prevent the spread of nuclear and missile technology in Iran. The bank's assets have been frozen as a result of the sanctions in various countries.
