Banca d'Eritrea

The Banca d'Eritrea (Italian for Bank of Eritrea ) was a bank founded in 1914 in the colony of Italian-Eritrea and is now the central bank of the state of Eritrea .

The central bank president is Kibreab Woldemariam . The headquarters of the bank is located in the capital Asmara in Maekel region.

The Central Bank of Eritrea is interested in stimulating foreign investment as well as importing capital goods such as industrial machinery and agricultural equipment. The central bank, although a government entity, is formally independent from the Treasury; the governor and the political committee of the Bank on Eritrea formulate and implement the policy with the contribution of the Treasury. Even so, travelers are allowed to bring foreign currencies into the country; however, all transactions must be carried out in Nakfa .
