Barðaströnd is called part of the south coast of the West Fjords of Iceland .

The north bank of Breiðafjörðurs west of Vatnsfjörðurs and east of Sigluneshlíð belongs to this area. Further west follow the Rauðisandur and Látrabjarg to Cape Bjargtangar . The Barðastrandarvegur S62 begins at Vestfjarðavegur S60 , runs past the ferry port Brjánslækur and climbs up to the Kleifaheiði at 404 m at Sigluneshlíð. Flóki Vilgerðarson was the first settler on Barðaströnd .
