Bjargtangar
Cape Bjargtangar in the coastal landscape of Látrabjarg on Iceland is the westernmost point of the island and is therefore the second westernmost point in Europe after the Azores with the longitude 31/16/30 / W of the westernmost island . Cape Bjargtangar is located in northwest Iceland, in the municipality of Vesturbyggð in the West Fjords .
In its classification as the “second westernmost point in Europe”, however, a few smaller islands are not included, as is Greenland , from which the Denmark Strait is 360 km away . Like Greenland, the Cape is geologically and tectonically located on the North American continental plate , not on the European one.
There is a lighthouse and a weather station right on the cape.
