Barbara Chase-Riboud

Barbara Chase-Riboud (born June 26, 1939 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American author , illustrator and sculptor .

life and work

Chase-Riboud studied at Temple University and Yale University , where she made her Masters in 1960 . Then she went to Paris and married the French photographer Marc Riboud , had two sons and traveled a lot. After the divorce, she married Sergio Tosi in 1981.

She is a member of the international writers' association PEN and lives in Paris , Capri and Rome .

Barbara Chase-Riboud published the historical novel Valide , which was published in 1988 under the title Serail ISBN 9783612271600 in the German-speaking area. Other well-known novels by the author are Das Echo des Löwen , Hamburg 1997 ISBN 3492224415 and Frei, vogelfrei - a southern state novel, 1996 ISBN 9783203760001 .

2019 it was included in the anthology New Daughters of Africa by Margaret Busby added.
