Barbara Gisler-Haase

Barbara Gisler-Haase (born April 23, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian flautist and author of relevant textbooks.

Life

After attending the Musikgymnasium in Vienna and studying the flute at what was then the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Gisler-Haase received the concert diploma in 1973 with unanimous distinction. From 1974 she taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

In 1999 she became full professor for flute at the department for wind and percussion instruments; since 2002 she has been head of the Leonard Bernstein Institute for Wind and Percussion Instruments at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Barbara Gisler-Haase holds master classes, seminars on questions of didactics and gifted education courses every year.

After numerous prizes from Jugend musiziert , she was a prizewinner in the 1974 international flute competition “Prague Spring”. In the following years she became a member of the Eurasia Quartet, the Wiener Nonette and the Vienna Bach Soloists. In 1983 the Vienna Flautists ensemble was founded , a group of eight flutists from the double bass flute to the piccolo. In 1997 she founded the Jubal Trio Wien with flute, cello and piano, recorded CDs with the group and gave numerous concerts.

Barbara Gisler-Haase also worked on research contracts for the research funding fund to improve transverse flutes. Together with the flute maker Werner Tomasi, she developed flutes for children from the age of 5 according to the “wave line” principle from 2009-2010, for which she was awarded a Houska award.
