Barbara Blaha Pfeiler (* 1952 in Pierbach ) is an Austrian linguist .

Life

From 1973 to 1985 she studied Romance languages ​​(Spanish and French), ethnology and general linguistics at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna . After completing her doctorate in 1987 at the University of Vienna , she has been professor of general linguistics and Mayan linguistics at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán since 1988 .

Her research interests are sociolinguistics, dialectology (Spanish and Maya) and first language acquisition in Maya.
