Barbara Schmidt-Mattern (* 1974/1975 in Kiel ) is the capital correspondent for Deutschlandfunk . Your reporting focus is on energy, environmental and climate issues.

Life

From 1994 to 2001 she studied German , English , theater and literature in Erlangen, Dublin and Cologne, completing a master's degree . The course was followed by training at the German School of Journalism in Munich. Schmidt-Mattern wrote for various print media such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung and switched to radio in 2003. For Deutschlandfunk, she worked as an editor in the background department from Cologne, reporting on European and foreign policy, from April 2010 as state correspondent for North Rhine-Westphalia and since 2015 in Berlin from the Deutschlandfunk's capital studio, with a focus on the environment, climate and greenery.

Barbara Schmidt-Mattern succeeded Christoph Gehring as the state correspondent for the three programs of the National Radio North Rhine-Westphalia, who moved to Mainz as deputy spokesperson for the Rhineland-Palatinate state government.

Moritz Küpper took over the duties of 40-year-old Schmidt-Mattern at the age of 34 with a two-month transition.

Schmidt-Mattern is a member of the sponsorship group of the German School of Journalism (DJS).
