Barbara Schneider (politician)

Barbara Schneider (born September 5, 1953 in Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ) and former member of the government of the canton of Basel-Stadt .

She attended the Holbein High School in Basel and studied 1974-1978 jurisprudence at the University of Basel . She completed her studies with a licentiate. After several internships, she was employed by the Neustart association from 1982 to 1987, in the culture department of the Basel-Stadt education department from 1987 to 1992, and from 1992 to 1997 by the Christoph Merian Foundation as head of the urban tasks department. 1980–1988 she was a member of the Grand Council and from 1996 to 2008 a member of the government of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
