Barbara Weitzel

Barbara Weitzel (born January 4, 1962 in Ober-Rosbach ) is a German politician (Die Grünen). From 1999 to 2003 she was a member of the state parliament of Hesse .

Life

After graduating from high school, Weitzel studied ethnology, anthropology and folklore from 1981 to 1987. After completing her MA, she worked in retail until 1989. This was followed by a year of upbringing, after which she worked as a folklorist in the Rotenburg District Home Museum. From 1991 until 1993, she was back in parental leave. She was also employed as a research assistant at the University of Kassel. From 1994 Weitzel was employed by the community of Lohfelden, where she worked up the local history. She then worked for a member of the Bundestag until 1998.

Act

Weitzel is a member of the Green Party. From 1980 she was on the local committee and from 1990 on the district committee. From 1993 to 1999 she was a member of the district council and from 1993 to 1995 she was a member of the association in the Kassel area. In 1995 she was also a party council delegate. In the 1999 state elections she was elected to the 15th state parliament of Hesse, to which she belonged until the end of the 2003 electoral term. She was a member of the 11th Federal Assembly for the election of the Federal President in May 1999 and was a member of the Petitions Committee.
