Barceló is a rum from the Dominican Republic .

history

The young entrepreneur Julian Barceló, who immigrated from Spain in 1929 , founded the company Barceló & Co. in the capital Santo Domingo in 1930. The brand established itself and soon became one of the largest rum distilleries in the Caribbean .

The distinctive amber bottle called Pitufita was patented in 1970 with the introduction of the Ron Barceló Anejo product . In the 1980s, the Ron Barceló Imperial variety was introduced by Miguel Barceló. It received several awards and twenty years later the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago named it the "Best Rum in the World" with the highest score in history.

Exports to countries outside the Caribbean began in 1992, and the company has been exporting to Spain since 1994, where it is the market leader. In 2000 there was a partnership between Ron Barceló and some Spanish companies. The rum is currently exported to more than 50 countries.

In Germany, the product has been marketed under the slogan "Hey, Ho, Barceló" since 2016.
