Barclays Bank Zambia (BBZ) is a public company based in Zambia . Its headquarters are in Lusaka , Kafue House, Cairo Road.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays PLC. It was founded in 1918 and sees itself primarily as a service company in international payment transactions and, through Barclays Global Securities, as access for foreign investors to the Zambian capital market. With Standard Chartered Bank and Zambia National Commercial Bank, it is one of the largest banks in Zambia. It mainly finances major public and private investments.

In January 2006 the BBZ presented a larger program for building loans: 80 percent financing with a maximum term of 12 years and 23 percent interest with a minimum loan amount of 96 million Kwacha (30,000 US $) outside of Lusaka and in Lusaka minimum loan amount of 80 million. Kwacha (US $ 24,000). Nonetheless, the pressure from donor countries on loans to small and medium-sized enterprises is having an effect, as the US Embassy press release of October 2006 makes clear. BBZ has 30 branches in Zambia.
