Barkevelde
Barkevelde is a desert in the district of Göttingen . It is located about 3 km southeast of Hattorf , 5.6 km southwest of Herzberg am Harz and 4.2 km northwest of Pöhlde , on today's access road to the Hattorf glider airfield.
history
Barkevelde was first mentioned in a document in 952. The exact time of the desertification cannot be given, but it is likely to be between 1340 and 1520. A church or chapel is mentioned in 1519/20. Apart from a few remains of plaster of paris, fragments of roof tiles and ceramic shards in the arable land, nothing today reminds us that there was once a village here.
The place name is made up of the defining word bark , which can mean birch , and the basic word field .
The desert Oy is located about 1 km northeast of Barkevelde .
