Oy (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oy is a desert in the district of Göttingen . It is located around 5 km southwest of Herzberg am Harz , 2.2 km south of Elbingerode , 3 km southeast of Hattorf and 4 km northwest of Pöhlde .

Oy was first mentioned in 1148. The exact time of the desertification cannot be specified. The village still existed around 1300, and that was probably still the case in 1337. Except for a few potsherds in the field, nothing today reminds us that there was once a village here.

The place name Oy is traced back to Aue .

About 2.5 to 3 km northeast of Oy are the desert areas of Koyhagen and Runigerodt , and about 1 km to the southwest is the desert area of Barkevelde .
