Barney Ronay

Barney Ronay (* in the 20th century in London ) is an English author and journalist , who as head of department for sports at Guardian operates.

Life

Ronay was born and raised in London and has been writing for When Saturday Comes since 2002 . In addition to this and the Guardian, he also wrote for the Irish Times , Gulf News , the New Statesman and the Blizzard , among others . He also runs the sports website The Pitch and is (co) author of various football non-fiction books, including the book Any Chance of a Game? and the WSC Companion to Football .

Ronay lives in London and plays football in either right or left midfield. In 2018 he was named one of the 238 most respected journalists by the National Council for the Training of Journalists . In the same year he was named "Football Author of the Year" by the Football Supporters' Federation . In 2020 he won the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards for the best football journalist of the year.
