Barns House (Ayr)

Barns House is a villa in the Scottish town of Ayr in the Council Area South Ayrshire . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The villa consists of two wings. The two-story main building was built around 1800. The masonry consists of polished sandstone and is covered by a paint on the front, while the stone is exposed on the back of the building. The northwest-facing front is three axes wide. The covered entrance area emerges in the middle. It is designed with Ionic pilasters and combat windows. The rear of the building, however, is five axes wide. The windows are usually twelve-part lattice windows . On the northeast side there is a one-story extension made of quarry stone. The building closes with a slate rooffrom. The outbuilding, which dates from the 17th century, runs across the main house.
