The Barnsdall Main Street Well Site (also known as the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil Company Well # 20 ) is a historic oil well in the north of the US state of Oklahoma , in Osage County , in the United States . It is located west of the junction of Oklahoma State Highway 11 to Main Street , in the middle of the main street in Barnsdall and is therefore unique in the world. The spring is a popular tourist attraction .

The oil production began on March 18, 1914 and was approved by the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil Company carried out. The drilling depth reached 540 meters. The foundation of the structure is made of concrete .

The Barnsdall Main Street Well Site was listed as a National Register of Historic Places with the number 97001153 on October 1, 1997.
