Baron Henniker
Baron Henniker , of Stratford upon Slaney in the County of Wicklow , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
The family seat of the barons is Thornham Hall at Eye in Suffolk .
Award
The title was created on July 31, 1800 for Sir John Henniker, 2nd Baronet . This had already inherited in 1781 the subordinate title of 2nd Baronet , of Worlingsworth Hall in the County of Suffolk, which had been awarded to his father John Major (1698–1781) on July 15, 1765 in the Baronetage of Great Britain.
His great-grandson, the 4th Baron, was also raised to Baron Hartismere , of Hartismere in the County of Suffolk, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom on July 13, 1866 . Today's title holder has been his great-great-grandson Mark Henniker-Major as 9th Baron Henniker and 6th Baron Hartismere since 2004 .
