Baron Keyes
Baron Keyes , of Zeebrugge and of Dover in the County of Kent , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on January 22, 1943 for Fleet Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, 1st Baronet . The territorial dedication of the title refers to his participation as a commander in the Zeebrugge Raid on 23 April 1918 a raid by the Royal Navy to the German submarine base in Zeebrugge, Belgium, in the First World War . As early as October 10, 1919, he was awarded the later subordinate title of Baronet , of Zeebrugge and of Dover in the County of Kent, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom .
