Baron Leyburn
Baron Leyburn was a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of England .
Awards
In the first bestowal, the title was created on February 6, 1299 for the admiral of the royal fleet William de Leyburn from Leybourne in Kent , when he was invited to Parliament by Writ of Summons . When he died around 1310, his eldest son Thomas († 1307) had already died, so that his daughter Juliana Leybourne inherited him. These and their descendants never effectively claimed the title of baron, the de-iure claim to the title was extinguished when their line of descendants died out in 1389.
In the second bestowal, the title was recreated on June 21, 1337 by Writ of Summons to Sir John de Leyburn from Shropshire . The title expired on his childless death in 1348.
