Baron Maclay , of Glasgow in the County of Lanark , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The family seat of the barons is Duchal House near Kilmacolm in Renfrewshire .

Award

The title was created on November 21, 1922 for the Scottish businessman Sir Joseph Maclay, 1st Baronet . He was Minister of Shipping from 1916 to 1921 . He had already been awarded the subordinate title of Baronet , of Park Terrace in the City of Glasgow, on July 20, 1914 .

Today's title holder has been his grandson Joseph Maclay as 3rd Baron since 1969 .
