Baron McNair
Baron McNair , of Gleniffer in the County of Renfrew , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was bestowed on August 4, 1955, to Sir Arnold McNair , an eminent judge. He was President of the International Court of Justice from 1952 to 1955 and President of the European Court of Human Rights from 1959 to 1965 .
Today his grandson holds the title as 3rd Baron. Since his only son, Hon. Thomas John McNair (* 1972), was born 18 days before the 3rd Baron's marriage to his mother, it is not the latter but the brother of the 3rd Baron who is considered the title heir.
