Baron Montfort

Baron Montfort was a British hereditary title of nobility , which was awarded once each in the Peerage of England and the Peerage of Great Britain .

Awards

The title was first created on June 23, 1295 as Barony by writ in the Peerage of England for John de Montfort , grandson of Peter de Montfort , when he was appointed to Parliament by Writ of Summons . At the death of his younger son, the 3rd baron, the title expired or fell into Abeyance between his two sisters.

On May 9, 1741, the title Baron Montfort , of Horseheath in the County of Cambridge , for the House of Commons Henry Bromley was recreated by Letters Patent in the Peerage of Great Britain . The title expired on the death of his grandson, the 3rd Baron, on April 30, 1851.
