Edward Bootle-Wilbraham, 1st Earl of Lathom, 2nd Baron Skelmersdale

Baron Skelmersdale , of Skelmersdale in the County Palatine of Lancaster , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created on January 30, 1828 for the Tory politician Edward Bootle-Wilbraham . He had been a member of the House of Commons for various constituencies since 1795 .

Another title

His grandson, the 2nd Baron, was a well-known conservative politician of his time. For many years he was Chief Whip of the Conservatives in the House of Lords and Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard . On May 3, 1880, he was made Earl of Lathom , in the County Palatine of Lancaster. This title, which also belonged to the Peerage of the United Kingdom, expired on February 6, 1930 with the death of his grandson, the 3rd Earl.

The heir ( Heir Apparent ) is the only son of the current baron, Hon. Daniel Bootle-Wilbraham (* 2007).
