Charles Morgan, 1st Baron Tredegar

Baron Tredegar , of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth , was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created on April 16, 1859 for Welsh politician and former House of Commons Sir Charles Morgan, 3, Baronet . In 1846 he had inherited the subordinate title of Baronet , of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth, from his father, which had been bestowed on his grandfather on November 15, 1792 in the Baronetage of Great Britain.

His son, the 2nd Baron, was also raised to Viscount Tredegar , of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth on December 28, 1905 . The Viscountcy expired on his childless death on March 11, 1913, while the Barony and Baronetcy fell to his nephew as the 3rd Baron. For this, the title Viscount Tredegar , of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth, was recreated on August 4, 1926. With the childless death of his son, the 2nd Viscount, on April 27, 1949, the Viscountcy expired, while the Barony and Baronetcy fell to his uncle as the 5th Baron. When his son, the 6th baron, died on November 17, 1962 without male heirs, the barony and baronetcy also became extinct.
