from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frederic George Morgan, 5th Baron Tredegar (also Frederick Morgan ) (born November 22, 1873 , † August 21, 1954 ) was a British nobleman and politician.

Frederic Morgan was the second son of Frederick Morgan and his wife Charlotte Anne Williamson († 1891), a daughter of Charles Williamson from Balgray in Dumfries . His father was a younger brother of Courtenay Morgan , who later inherited the title of Baron Tredegar , and was at times a member of the House of Commons . He died in 1909. Morgan attended Eton College and studied at Oxford. In 1909 he became justice of the peace for Brecon and Radnor . In 1898 he had married Dorothy Syssylt († 1929), a daughter of Ralph Thurston Bassett. With her he had a son and a daughter, and the marriage was divorced in 1921. After the death of his nephew, the 2nd Viscount Tredegar in 1949, he inherited the title of Baron Tredegar, making him a member of the House of Lords . Due to Morgan's old age, his nephew bequeathed the family property directly to Morgan's son John , so that the family would not have to pay inheritance taxes after Morgan's death. After Morgan's death, his son inherited the title of Baron Tredegar.
