Baron Trimlestown

Baron Trimlestown is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland . The title refers to Trimblestown near Trim in County Meath .

The Barons' current family home is Autumn Cottage in Chiddingfold , Surrey .

Award

The title was created during the Wars of the Roses on March 4, 1462 by King Edward IV for the Irish knight Sir Robert Barnewall . He had distinguished himself in the service of his father Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York . The Award Deed is the oldest surviving charter in the Peerage of Ireland, which specifically identifies the dignity conferred as Baron of Parliament .

Today's title holder has been Raymond Barnewall, 21st Baron Trimlestown , since 1997 .
