Barren Cross is a heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles , California in 1983 . Your texts are influenced by Christianity.
Band history
In 1983 the band was founded by their two school friends Ray Parris (guitar) and Steve Whitaker (drums). In 1984 the band was completed by bassist Jim LaVerde and singer Mike Lee. Several club appearances followed. In 1989 the band appeared on the Morton Downey Show along with members of KISS and Anthrax . Although the band never officially split up, they have been largely dormant since completing their State of Control World Tour in 1990 - apart from the release of their last studio album in 1994 and a few live appearances, including at the Swiss Elements of Rock Festival 2005 and 2012, the latter of which was released on the occasion of the band's 30th anniversary as a CD / video combination Birth Pangs with three previously unreleased songs.
style
Musically, the band is often compared to Iron Maiden because the voices of Mike Lee and Iron Maiden's singer Bruce Dickinson are the same. The band's lyrics deal with social issues such as suicide, abortion, addictions, terrorism and prejudice from a Christian perspective.
