Barrett Island is a 3 km long and icy island that lies within the northern part of Morgan Inlet at the eastern end of Thurston Island off the Eights coast of west Antarctic Ellsworthland .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them using aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them after Lieutenant Barry B. Barrett, pilot of the Navy Squadron VX-6 for creating aerial photographs during Operation Deep Freeze in 1964.
