Bartels is an impact crater on the western edge of the visible front of the moon . In this position the crater is only visible from the side and the observation is influenced by libration effects. A complete observation is only possible from the lunar orbit . It is located north of the Moseley crater and south-southeast of Voskresenskiy .
The Bartels crater rim , especially in the southern area, has been worn and eroded by erosion and subsequent impacts. The northeastern edge is overlaid by a smaller crater. The crater floor forms a smooth plain with a low central peak and has several tiny impact craters.
