Basa , also called Abacha , Abatsa , Basa-Benue , Bassa-Komo , Bassa-Kwomu , Rubasa and Rubassa , is a Niger-Congo language from the subgroup of Platoid languages , which is found in central Nigeria in the Local Government Areas Bassa , Ankpa , Nassarawa and Kwali as well as in the city of Makurdi is spoken by about 100,000 people. It belongs to the group of the Kainji languages .
Basa is increasingly being displaced by the official language English, and some Basa speakers also speak Igala or Nupe .
