Basava Premanand

Basava Premanand (born 1930 in Kozhikode , Kerala , † October 4, 2009 ) was an Indian skeptic and rationalist . He was the founder of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations .

Life

Premanand grew up as the son of theosophical parents. Like James Randi , he used his knowledge of magic tricks to expose supposedly supernatural powers with natural explanations. He particularly attacked Sathya Sai Baba . He campaigned for science and against religions. The Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations he founded travels to villages to educate people and to warn of the dangers of religions. He also edited The Indian Skeptic . He followed Abraham Kovoor in his work .
