Basilio Franchina

Basilio Franchina (born January 31, 1914 in Palermo , † December 17, 2003 in Rome ) was an Italian filmmaker.

Life

Franchina spans sixty years of Italian cinema history. In 1940 he presented his first short films as a director, which was followed by collaborations with Giuseppe De Santis from 1947 to 1951 . After his only feature film for the cinema, the unimpressive Legione straniera based on his own screenplay , a story about jealousy and honor, regular, later very occasional contributions to films by others followed until the mid-1950s. Franchina was mostly entrusted with the production and organizational processes of films. In 2000 he was still working on the script for Paolo Benvenuti's Gostanza di Libbiano .
