Development history

Basilisk II is a free 680x0 - Macintosh - emulator that on a number of operating systems can be run, including BeOS , Linux , AmigaOS , Windows NT and macOS . The current version runs on Mac OS X for PowerPC and Intel processors.

Basilisk II only supports versions of Mac OS running on 68K Macintoshs, the latest version being Mac OS 8.1. Newer versions require a PowerPC processor, which Basilisk II does not emulate.

Macintoshs with PowerPC processors can be emulated with SheepShaver or PearPC .

The project has not officially published any more since 2006, but the emulator was developed further until 2008, since then only bug fixes have been added to the code base . The current source code is available via the CVS repository of the project. Third parties compile and offer finished program packages ("builds") at irregular intervals.
