Basmanny market hall
The Basmanny Market Hall ( Russian Басманный рынок ) was a market hall near Moscow's Baumanskaya metro station in the Basmanny district ( Center district ). It was built in 1977 with the participation of the civil engineer Nodar Kancheli .
In the early morning of February 23, 2006, the roof collapsed under the snow load. 66 people were killed. More than 500 rescue workers were on duty. The market hall was completely demolished after the collapse.
