Bassam Salih Kubba

Bassam Salih Kubba ( Arabic بسام صالح كبة; * April 27, 1944 in Baghdad ; † June 12, 2004 ibid) was Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister and belonged to the Shiite religious community .

Life

Kubba studied English literature at the University of Baghdad and received his Masters in International Relations from St. John's University in New York . Since 1968 he worked in the Foreign Ministry. In the 1990s he was Iraqi ambassador to the People's Republic of China under Saddam Hussein . In April 2004 he was appointed to the post of Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister. On June 12, 2004, he was shot dead by strangers on his way to work.
