Bassumer Utkiek
The Bassumer Utkiek is an 87-meter-high, artificially raised mountain in the Wedehorn district , about 6 km south of the town of Bassum in Lower Saxony . It is the highest elevation in the Diepholz district and is located on the site of the AbfallWirtschaftsGesellschaft (AWG) mbH - Bassum waste disposal center . The area of 20 hectares opened to the public has been used as a recreation area since 2007. Access is free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. There is a toboggan run after snowfall .
history
Since 1978 the area has been used as a landfill for the disposal of waste and gradually reached today's maximum height.
