Bastian Jakob (born June 1, 1987 ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who was under contract with the Ratinger Ice Aliens until 2014 .

Career

He began playing ice hockey in 1990 in the running school of what was then Neusser SC (now Neusser EV). He stayed here until 1998, when he switched to DEG . After another five years, he moved to Krefeld in the summer of 2003.

Since DEG does not have a team in the highest German youth league, the DNL, ​​this change of club was only logical. In the young penguins team, Bastian Jakob joined an excellent team and his first season in Krefeld was also very successful. The Mannheim young eagles were only narrowly beaten and came in second. But in the playoffs they lost in the first game of the semi-finals against the Kölner Junghaie and were eliminated from the playoffs in game two the following day.

After the departure of Stefan Blumenhofen, who had also exceeded the age limit and with whom he had previously taken turns in goal, Bastian was now the unrestricted first goalie. But he could not build on the strong previous year, you could only barely reach the playoffs. You could also annoy the Tölzer Löwen in the first playoff game . The surprise first from Bavaria came to Krefeld as a big favorite for the first game and the Penguins still got the upper hand with 2-1. Ultimately, however, they were eliminated over three games and lost in Tölz with 0-5 and 0-6.

So now Bastian Jakob, who had gone through all the teams of the LEV NRW and DEB (U-16 and U-17 national team) since the U-13 NRW selection, was in the Krefeld Penguins squad and tried to assert himself in the DEL.

In the 2005/06 season he had his first successful assignment in a DEL game, but was mainly used with a support license with the ESC Moskitos Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga. 2006/07 he had five missions for the penguins and had a production license at Grefrather EC , with which he reached the promotion to the league . In the summer of 2007 he joined the Ratinger Ice Aliens . After three and a half years in Ratingen, he first moved to Neusser EV in January 2011 , before returning to Ratinger Ice Aliens in summer 2012, where Bastian Jakob has been playing in the major league ever since .
