from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bau und Leben der Rhinogradentia is a scientifically written textbook by zoology professor Harald Stümpke from 1957.

In it he describes in detail the way of life, anatomy and physiology of the animal group he invented, the Rhinogradentia , based on the poem Das Nasobem by Christian Morgenstern . The book has achieved cult status among those interested in zoology thanks to its detailed depiction of the animals, which is very well founded in zoology.

In addition to the stone louse , the rhinogradentia or nasal striders are among the best-known examples of scientific jokes in the field of zoology. The book was first published in German and later translated into different languages.
