Bauen mit Holz ( custom spelling BAUEN MIT HOLZ ) is a German trade journal for planning and execution in timber construction. Technical information as well as information on industry and market developments appear in eleven issues per year.

history

The history of the “Bauen mit Holz” magazine is closely linked to that of the professional association “ Holzbau Deutschland - Bund Deutscher Zimmermeister im Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes ” and its predecessor organizations.

Ernst Müller and Georg Herrmann founded a Baden carpenter's newspaper in Mannheim in 1898, which they named "Süddeutsche Zimmermeister-Zeitung". Five years later the professional association “Bund Deutscher Zimmermeister eV” (BDZ) was founded in Hanover (also on the initiative of Georg Herrmann). The BDZ took over the "Süddeutsche Zimmermeister-Zeitung" as an association organ, now under the title " Deutsche Zimmermeister-Zeitung ".

In 1920, the association spun off its publishing activities into the newly founded “Fachblatt-Verlags GmbH”. This publisher took over the publication of the association organ, now under the title " Der Deutsche Zimmermeister ". In the 1930s, the publishing conditions changed again. Under the rule of the National Socialists, professional associations were forbidden to publish independently. Albert's brother, editor of the magazine, bought the association's publishing activities, and thus founded in 1936 Bruderverlag . Since “Der Deutsche Zimmermeister” was aimed at the business owners, Albert Bruder founded the magazine “DER ZIMMERMANN” for the next generation of professionals in the same year.

In 1960 the name was changed from “Der Deutsche Zimmermeister” to the name “Bauen mit Holz”, which is still used today. Since 1993 "Bauen mit Holz" is no longer the official organ of the carpenters' association , but acts as an independent trade journal .

Bauen mit Holz is a funding partner of the Holzbau Deutschland Institute and media partner of the Informationsverein Holz .
